THIS GIRL, WAMBURA MITARU

I must confess that I hadn't heard much about Wambura Mitaru. Actually she had just been mentioned here and there in the music circles and that was it. So I walk into Webi's album launch and Sara Mitaru introduces her small sis... that could almost pass until you pick her voice as she offered back-up vocals for Webi. Chrystal clear, somewhat jazzy, and as you try figure that out, you bump into her perfoming at Kivuli!

She is greatly talented, very versatile on stage, spontanous... the list is endless. We ask her when she plans to record she says, "...that's not my thing..." Maybe a case of a vessel that waits to be complete before leaving the porter's table, or someone who just is not into recording for the sake of it, but I can bet on everything I have, this is talent that will appear before Kings and not mere mortals!

SUNDAYS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME ON HOPE FM

After months of calls, emails and text messages asking for live Sunday morning programming, HOPE FM has caved in! Tune in this Sunday from 10.00 PM for the first ever Sunday Live show on HOPE FM.

SHANGILIA TO BE RE-LOADED

SHANGILIA, the daily exclusively local show on HOPE FM is in the process of being rejuvinated! Starting Monday 3rd August, Anthony Ndiema unveils the re-birth of SHANGILIA. Will the name change? What features is he throwing out? Over to you Anthony.

AND WEBI SAID IT ALL!

Webi's album launch is one of those rare events where one comes out feeling refreshed by both worship the relatioinship and music the art. Spectacular is all I can say. The gig kicked off with Webi doing a solo perfomance with his acoustic guitar of songs from his previous album. By the time the BLACKMAN led band hit the stage, the audience was on its edge thirsting for more!

No sound hitches, no cliche white suits, no curtain raisers... I think that did it for me. Get the album, but I assure you, it is nothing compared to the live version, especially when Rigga teaches you how to swim!

GOSPEL TALENT BRINGING SCRIPTURE TO LIFE

When the Bible talks about wealth being stored up for the righteous, think beyond mass action and name-it claim-it mentality. Over the past few months, we have witnessed born again ministers enrolling for talent competitions and walking straight to the top as though it was a rehearsed play. DJ Krowbar started it all bagging the Mfalme DJ of the year crown, and now we have 3:16, our very own from NPC who danced (like David) to 250,000/= and a trip to Egypt plus tonnes of goodies. Well, ye are the light, so let your light shine!

ZIDI TO START 'KIVULI' IN AUGUST

Zidi - THE BAND is set to restart their monthly 'KIVULI' concerts on the 1st of August. The concert is going to focus on worship, unity, positive messages and reconciliation of people from all walks of life using God's word. The event has in the past incorporated artists such as Krystin Ndela, Webi, Chizi and Astar. All I can say is, if you thirst for rich music; rich in style, rich in variety and rich in content, KIVULI is the place to be! Get details under our events page.

HOPE FM SET TO ROCK MOMBASA

Indications are quite clear that HOPE FM is planning to hold twin events in Mombasa on the 15th and 16th of August. The events (a concert and worship experience) are being crafted to minister to people from all walks of life, transforming their lives and impacting an attitude of worship in them. Stay on this channel for details.

ANOTHER BACHELOR DOWN

NIKKO, who brought you the chart topping collabos with Mercy Wairegi, Billy Frank and Gideon Banda such as Wanipenda, Ukimwita, Never be the same and the reggae jam God will never fail, got married to Tabsa Kahangi of KTN on Saturday 11th July in a star studded private ceremony. Of course he will never be the same again and HOPE FM wishes him all the best!

AFLEWO TO HIT MOMBASA AND NYERI... AGAIN

Arguably Kenya's biggest worship event, AFLEWO (Africa Lets Worship) is set to make a comeback in Nyeri and Mombasa in October this year, after succesfully holding the event in these towns last year. The gig has experienced a rapid growth from 7,000 people in attendance in 2004 to approximately 20,000 people! Stay tuned to HOPE FM for details of exact dates and how you can participate.

NG'ASHVILLE SET TO DEBUT
